Christmas wishes
December is coming very soon, and December = thinking about what to get others for Christmas. As such I need to get this list out of my head before the month officially dawns.
-I like classical music on high-resolution formats such as SACD, DVD-Audio, and vinyl LP. At the moment my particular fascination is the piano, particularly solo piano though I hear good things about Rachmaninoff’s...

Warning: post contains blasphemy
Last night I had the fortune of attending a Bach Society performance (they’re a chamber orchestra at Harvard that b is in) featuring world famous violinist Ryu Goto. He was playing a 1715 Stradivarius violin.
For as long as I’ve been involved in music I have heard the praises of this particular violin maker sung loudly. I saw one in person in 2008 when I visited the Stradivarius...

I don’t care that its Mac compatibility sucks, it totally has Cylon factor. Which is what really matters.

Ben Englert: what did you want to use filemaker bento for
Ben Englert: inventorying your room?
Bonnie: no
Bonnie: why the fuck would i want to inventory my room
Bonnie: i mean
Bonnie: i guess
Bonnie: if i were OCD
Bonnie: ...
Bonnie: god wouldnt that be amazing
Ben Englert: i would only want an inventory of my room if it also tells me where i last put it
Ben Englert: which, unless i update it every time i move an object, is impossible
Bonnie: search "green" and come up with every article of clothing notebook book shoe
Bonnie: that was green
Bonnie: or
Bonnie: "formal dress" intersect with "green"
Bonnie: or "math homework" interesect with "fail"
Bonnie: haha
Bonnie: the future ben
Bonnie: this is the future
Ben Englert: i mean
Ben Englert: not really

Ben Englert: this has kind of been around since the 60s
Ben Englert: welcome to thinking like a computer person

The inside front cover of Karmacoda’s Ultraviolet Live says: “Ultraviolet Live was recorded in a single day at the Karmacoda studios in San Francisco, CA. We wanted to quickly put down some of our favorite tracks in an informal way and share it with everyone as a short personal concert. We hope that you enjoy these new interpretations of our songs.”
In defense of Glee
lauren: glad you're enjoying glee
< benglert> do you now see how it is about life?
< lauren> unrealistic life
< benglert> lies
< lauren> but at least it's not like other musical shows where people just burst out into song all the time
< benglert> there's nothing ironic about showchoir
< lauren> well, nobody at my high school ever got drinks thrown in their faces
< benglert> sigh
< benglert> so cynical and realistic
< benglert> then i will just say that glee is about life as i experience it
< benglert> you get metaphorical drinks thrown in your face all the time
< benglert> don't knock the show for being representational rather than presentational
< lauren> okay fair

inkless-pen:
This is such a clear reminder that the alumnae of my high school are some of the most eloquent and strong minded thinkers and writers I know. I hope this situation will be righted soon as this man coached many a girl into a woman with a voice, with belief in herself, in the community and in the strength of presentation and art.
Yet another reminder that the world has become about...

I didn’t try seriously getting into recording because I assumed that when I got to university, I wouldn’t have time for recording anymore among the myriad of extracurriculars I planned to participate in. That was a good call, and I was right about that much. But my main reason for not trying was that I assumed there’d be people much better than I already doing it, and I would never get...

I am sorry, but how worthlessly metabullshit does this sound? (Buzzwords bolded by moi)
Dubbed simply “The Cloud,” the structure would consist of two 400-foot tall mesh towers that are linked by a series of interconnected plastic bubbles, which would themselves house an observation deck inside and be used to display everything from Olympic scores and highlights to a “barometer...
