You can't handle the truth →
Apparently alcohol is more harmful (given a cross-section of metrics) than a lot of other, “worse” substances - so our country’s laws are backwards. What else is new.

Trips home
are fixed points in time. (Should I start calling them “visits”? Weird.) What I mean by that is, every time I wake up and find myself at home, I can consistently, reliably quantify the most recent chunk of time I spent at school in Boston. It is always a fixed amount because a stable pattern has emerged: go home Christmas, go home spring break, go home summer. That realization, of...

Hoo-rah
The sci-fi soundscape composition that I posted last week has been selected for inclusion on the Music Tech website in the student work jukebox. I don’t know when they’ll actually post its, so here is the description I sent them along with it: About me: I am a dual Music Technology and Computer Science major at NU, currently in my second year. My ultimate goal is to work on the...

Question
Resolved: Given that there is no amount of money you can spend on a Macbook air to make it fast, you might as well let it do the one thing it actually is good at and let it be pretty. To that end, it is better to spend the money to get a cheaper Macbook air painted by colorwarepc.com than it is to get a more expensive (but only marginally faster) stock unit from Apple. Agree? Disagree?

Virgin Galactic unveils SpaceShipTwo →
“SpaceShipTwo will be unveiled after darkness has fallen over the Mojave Desert to the sound of a space-themed anthem from Britain’s biggest DJs, Above & Beyond.  Fittingly titled “Buzz” the track will sample Buzz Aldrin’s original moon landing dialogue. Following the naming by Governors Richardson and Schwarzenegger, the DJs will also perform an exclusive set at the celebration cocktail...

San Francisco Symphony's Mahler 8 recording... →
I am very excited for one of my high school teachers. Not only was she the driving force behind my illustrious male a cappella group, but in her free time she also sang in the SF women’s chorus. This chorus was used on the SF Symphony’s most recent Mahler recording, which has now been nominated for a few Grammy awards. So congratulations, Ms. Nace!
