Just to prove that you get what you pay for, it has 2.5 hours of battery life, no gigabit ethernet, b/g wireless (no n), and 1440x900 (same as 15” MBP) stretched out over 17 inches. Also weighs almost 8lb. If that’s really “just what you wanted”, go ahead, buy a ridiculous chinsy plastic-tastic monster like that. See how long it takes to fall apart.

Social Taboos on the Subway Include:
nataleiigh:
(1) Looking awake, too perky
(2) Staring intently at someone or into someone’s eyes (see 3)
(3) Making visible eye contact
(4) Smiling or see 5
(5) Exhibiting friendliness; being overtly gregarious
(6) Talking too loudly (though you can get away with this if you’re a rapscallion or wearing overly baggy pants; then people expect it of you)

I’m sure this wasn’t the first time something like this has happened, just the most publicized one. It’s enough to make me think about swapping my iPhone for one of these.
I love working on personal projects
Mostly because I don’t feel bad if I goof off while doing it. I’m not on anybody’s clock except my own so I really only have to work on things for as long as they interest me, and not an instant longer.
I made a lot of progress today on a certain personal project today, as did my lovely and talented designer (because we all know Ben is crap at making things look nice).

Anik Debnath: ohhh! mmm uh uh no no.
Anik Debnath: just because im dressed this way, does not make me a whore!
Anik Debnath: ok. sure, just cus you dress a certain way doesnt mean you are a certain way.
Anik Debnath: fine. agreed.
Anik Debnath: but that is fucking confusing.
Anik Debnath: thats like you, walking out in boston
Anik Debnath: wearing a police uniform
Anik Debnath: some ****** gets shot
Anik Debnath: and people run to you
Anik Debnath: "thank god! officer! someone was shot! help us please!"
Anik Debnath: and youd respond
Anik Debnath: "...oh! just because im dressed this way, does not make me a police officer"
"Employer for a day"
is an exercise we do in my CS/IS Overview class where we review anonymized versions of each others’ resumés (I called myself “The Doctor”) and match experience/qualifications to a given list of positions.
In other words, a perfect opportunity to assess the overall level of the competition, even if they are anonymous. How exciting.

What a whirlwind.
Just over 24 hours ago, I got an email from a senior recruiter at Apple saying they had come upon my resumé (didn’t say how) and were interested in interviewing me for some positions in Apple’s core media group. I sent them back an updated resumé and explained that I am in college but would be interested in seeing what opportunities are available for the summer.
They called me for a...

The pretext of the popular blog, FML, sometimes puzzles me. In the rare occurance that I find myself utturing those words aren’t in the remotest bit hilarious. Then of course, I don’t read FML because I don’t find their entries particularly entertaining either (anymore? They seem to have gone steeply downhill).

MIT decisions
Apparently came out on pi day, at 1:59PM (via Noel). Cute, though I doubt people needed an extra reminder of how awesome MIT is if they just found out they didn’t get in.
MIT decisions were quite the massacre last year and it sounds like they were again, though I haven’t heard any specifics yet.
Speaking of high concentrations of highly technical people, apparently the Boston FIRST...
