Part 2:
As soon as I got back to the house I started looking for something that I could turn into a creative and appropriate tribute to Mr. Jobs. Looking through my collection of old Apple stuff I found my Apple USB Keyboard - precisely the sort that would have shipped with an iMac, the computer that was Steve’s first big project after his return to Apple. (I knew there was a reason I kept that thing!)
I rearranged the keys to deliver my message, made some room on the numpad for a candle, and dropped it off at Infinite Loop this morning.
The timing of my short trip back to the Bay Area this weekend was totally unrelated, but I’m glad I got to pay my respects in Cupertino along with everyone else from the community.
Thank you, Steve, for helping to build this Valley into what it is, for giving people from the South Bay a home-grown, world-famous, crown jewel company to be proud of, and for inspiring countless youngsters, myself included. Hope you like the keyboard. Rest in peace.
