Let’s review
Since moving back to the US in 2000 (as computers, especially Macs, were prohibitively expensive in New Zealand) I have legitimately purchased:
-a 500MHz iBook
-a 1.33GHz iBook G4
-a 2.5GHz Macbook Pro
However, on account of frequent hardware failures requiring extensive mail-in repair service in all of the above machines, I have received for free:
-an 800MHz iBook G4
-a 2.0GHz Macbook
and in a few days, a 2.8GHz Macbook Pro will be added to that list.
As in literally 50% of my computers over the last few years have been free. Why is it that these comparatively expensive computers all seem to hate working reliably all day, every day for me? Do laptops really suck as much as they seem to? Both my brother’s Mac mini and my iMac have been rock solid and never needed a single repair.
Apple, step yo game up. As much as I love the free upgrades that tend to fall right as my current machine is starting to show its age, I would love more knowing that my computer is rock solid and infallible.
