Chasing perfection has totally paid off

Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique has always been one of my absolute favorite works of classical music, but I just rediscovered it in the most wonderful way.

Captured in London in 1959 on three channel 35mm tape (that’s 1/4” per channel), this recording was carefully converted to 24-bit, 192kHz digital audio. It’s since been made available as a DVD-Audio disc, which I listened to today on my recently completed reference system.

Astonishing. Mind blowing. Visceral. And 100% worth it.

I love my sound system and I love the old favorites that I now get to rediscover through it.
