This is such a clear reminder that the alumnae of my high school are some of the most eloquent and strong minded thinkers and writers I know. I hope this situation will be righted soon as this man coached many a girl into a woman with a voice, with belief in herself, in the community and in the strength of presentation and art.

Yet another reminder that the world has become about six inches wide, total. I didn’t go to Castilleja (obviously, being male) and only ever worked one production there, but the community is strong even when it’s scattered far and wide, so plenty of other ex-Bay Area theater folks and I heard about this pretty much as soon as it happened. Hopefully the school will respond to pressure and come clean, but either way it’s probably too late - they will have trouble finding designers and crew members for their shows from this point forward.
